Félix Solís adds three historic names to its portfolio in La Rioja and strengthens its presence in one of the world’s major wine-producing regions

Félix Solís is expanding its presence in La Rioja with the acquisition of Federico Paternina, Lagunilla and Rioja Santiago, three historic brands from the region that are closely linked to the development and prestige of La Rioja wine. The deal marks a new step in the company’s history and reinforces its commitment to one of Spain’s leading wine-producing regions.

The addition of Paternina, Lagunilla and Rioja Santiago also strengthens Félix Solís’s position as one of Spain’s leading wine groups, with a prominent presence in the country’s main wine-producing areas and leading positions in Toro, Valdepeñas and Rueda. In La Rioja, the company already boasts brands such as Castillo de Albai and Arnegui, to which these three historic brands are now added, consolidating its presence in the La Rioja Appellation of Origin (DOCa) and expanding its ability to offer customers and consumers a more comprehensive range in the region.

‘For us, bringing Paternina, Lagunilla and Rioja Santiago on board means much more than simply expanding our portfolio. These are three names that form part of La Rioja’s wine history and deserve to continue playing a significant role in the region’s future,’ says Félix Solís Yáñez, the company’s chairman and CEO. “We want to contribute our experience, our commercial expertise and our international vision to showcase this rich heritage and help these brands continue to grow and reach new consumers and markets,” he adds.

Federico Paternina is one of La Rioja’s great historic houses and, for decades, was one of the leading names in La Rioja Alta, helping to cement the prestige of the wines from this area. Lagunilla, with over a century of history, is equally steeped in the wine-making tradition of La Rioja. Meanwhile, Rioja Santiago, founded in 1870, is one of the region’s oldest firms and a name closely linked to the development of La Rioja wine.

For Félix Solís, the transaction represents an opportunity to contribute to the future of La Rioja from a long-term perspective, combining respect for tradition with the capacity for innovation and adaptation that has characterised the company’s evolution over its more than seven decades of history.
