History

“Wine should be enjoyed by all…that is why we strive to produce quality wines by growing grapes and crafting wines with the same values that our grandfather started with.” The Solís Brothers

1952 Founder Félix Solís Fernández and his wife Leonor Yañez moved from Félix’s home town of Villanueva de los Infantes to Valdepeñas. He bought the renowned Casa del Huerto del Cura, the house in the garden of the priest. The winery has retained the original warehouses, the tinajas (huge earthenware jars), the barrels (where some of its best wines are aged), the underground cellar and even the structure of this typical ancestral home of La Mancha. Now, this is the social headquarters of the company.

1962 Félix Solís bought a bottling company in Madrid. The wine was transported using barrels and bottled by hand in the basement. The bottles were then loaded into a small DKW and distributed to bars and restaurants across the city. “Viña Albali” launch.

1968 The regulatory body for the D.O. Valdepeñas, stated that producers had to produce and bottle their wines at their point of origin. Felix responded by moving the company to its current location on the national highway linking Madrid and Cádiz.
