Vina Albali Gran Reserva Selección Privada, with 96 points, is the only Spanish wine among the best red wines in the prestigious Ultimate Wine Challenge in the US

13/6/2016
The Ultimate Wine Challenge, one of the most well-known wine competitions in the US, has just released its results from 2016 tastings. Among these results, 17 wines of Felix Solis Avantis have been awarded. Among them, the top award, known as the Chairman´s Trophy, was given to Vina Albali Gran Reserva Seleccion Privada with 96 points; also classified as a “great value”, due to its excellent quality- price ratio. Only 16 red wines have received the highest acknowledgement known as the Chairman´s Trophy, among them Vina Albali Gran Reserva Seleccion Privada 2010 is the only Spanish wine. It is also remarkable that among the 17 wines awarded to Felix Solis Avantis, 9 of them got 90 points or above: Viña Albali Gran Reserva de Familia (95 points), Arnegui Reserva (95 points), Gran Bajoz (93 points) are also finalists in the competition. On another hand, other wines have received the mention “Great Value”, like Viña Albali Reserva (92 points), Viña San Juan red (91 puntos), Arnegui Crianza (90 points), Arnegui Tempranillo (90 points) and Altos de Tamaron Reserva (89 points). This is the 7th edition of this completion held for four weeks in Hawthorne, New York. This year more than 1,200 still, sparkling and fortified wines, ciders and sakes from all over the world have been tasted.  Among the judges, some well- known wine expert, sommeliers, consultants, journalists and writers like Doug Frost, Tracy Ellen Kamens, Tess Rose Lampert, Jack Mason, Patricia Savoie, Rick Schofield, Francis Schott and Jennifer Simonetti-Bryan. In the blind tasting, judges took into account the type of wine, origin, price and quality consistency. These awards reinforce the quality investment of the company Felix Solis Avantis year after year, with modern facilities and excellent professional team. “We hope that these results help us increase the sales in the US”, comments Felix Solis-Ramos, Export Director of this family owned company whose headquarters are located in Valdepenas since 1952.
