Félix Solís Avantis reinforces its environmental policy with new decarbonisation targets

For this reason, we want to continue advancing in the commitments associated with sustainable development outlined in our environmental policy. In addition, we are responding to the demands of our customers and society, which are increasingly concerned about sustainability.
As a result, the group has set an ambitious carbon footprint reduction target for this year, which is already in the process of being implemented. By the end of 2021, the company will have reduced its total emissions by 48%.
This is equivalent to preventing the emission of five tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere per year. In the words of our president, Mr. Félix Solís Yáñez, “wine production, marketing and distribution cannot ignore the urgent need to adapt to clean energy sources. We have set ourselves the ambitious goal of halving our carbon footprint in one year because this cannot wait. We want to send a clear message to consumers when we put a good wine on their table, and that is that it has also been produced in an environmentally responsible manner.”
The first step in tackling this challenge has been to identify exactly where its environmental impact originates. To this end, the winery has carried out an energy audit: ‘Being sustainable is a priority in our wineries, which is why we want to turn every step of our roadmap into a way of life. We want every member of the company to be involved, because we are convinced that every complex daily action will translate into benefits for our sector and our environment.’
Other notable steps the company is taking include: the progressive use of 100% renewable energy, the development of facilities for solar photovoltaic self-consumption, and the design of a roadmap to reduce its transport carbon footprint by establishing sustainable requirements for suppliers and partner companies.
