Félix Solís Avantis Bolsters Sustainability Commitment with New Solar Farm in Valdepeñas
Félix Solís Avantis, a leading figure in the Spanish and international wine sectors, has reached a new milestone in its commitment to sustainability and the energy transition with the commissioning of a new solar farm at its Valdepeñas headquarters. This new facility, which complements two existing photovoltaic installations, will enable the company to self-generate up to 25% of its electricity requirements. This move further strengthens the Group’s energy strategy in alignment with European decarbonisation targets.

The solar farm, spanning over 41,662 m², features 5,458 state-of-the-art photovoltaic panels with a total installed capacity of 3,092.2 kWp. The energy generated will be dedicated entirely to production, bottling, and logistics operations, directly enhancing energy efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint of the Group’s primary winery.
This initiative marks a significant step in the rollout of the Group’s 2024–2027 Sustainability Strategy, a cross-functional roadmap aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The strategy is built upon European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and EFRAG guidance regarding double materiality assessments, ensuring that both financial and non-financial impacts are integrated into executive decision-making.
“The launch of the Valdepeñas solar farm reflects Félix Solís Avantis’ ambition to move towards a cleaner, more self-sufficient energy model. It is a strategic investment that not only drives operational efficiency but also underscores our environmental stewardship,” says Félix Solís Ramos, Commercial and Marketing Director of Félix Solís Avantis.
In 2024, Félix Solís Avantis’ combined solar assets generated over 550 MWh, contributing to a 4% reduction in overall electricity consumption. Through these and other energy-saving measures, the Group successfully reduced its total carbon footprint by approximately 6%. Notably, Scope 2 emissions saw a substantial decrease of around 35%.
Alongside its focus on renewable energy, the Group is championing other key pillars such as the circular economy and resource efficiency. In 2024, Félix Solís Avantis reduced mixed waste generation by 4% through improved segregation and treatment processes. Furthermore, 99.5% of the electricity purchased for its operations was sourced from renewable origins.
As part of this holistic approach, the company has committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It also collaborates with suppliers who share its vision for sustainability—most notably its partnership with CHEP. By utilising reusable pallets, the Group has successfully mitigated emissions, minimised waste, and prevented the felling of hundreds of trees.
With this latest development, Félix Solís Avantis solidifies its position as a frontrunner in wine industry sustainability, bridging technological innovation with environmental responsibility and a long-term strategic vision.
